You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Random thoughts and updates....

Change Is In the Air!

I just got some pics from Sandy (I will post those in a moment)-who is the current house manager at the Orphanage. Sandy is preparing to return to the States at the end of the month, and Megan will take on her responsibilities for a short time, while the details are worked out for a missionary couple to come to Haiti and manage the O. I'm sad Sandy is leaving, but excited to meet and get to know Megan, and then the new couple. Change can be scary, but it can also be a very good thing. I pray for all these people, and thank God that they are willing to serve. What a blessing they have been and will be, to so many.

And, there have been some other changes in Haiti. You can read about them here and here I don't really know what these things mean for adoption-but I pray that our sovereign God works to put leaders in place that will not unnecessarily delay adoptions.

According to the last news report I saw online, the storm (Gustav) killed 51 people in Haiti. The children and the orphanage are okay-they had to deal with chilly wet weather and wind. Pray for the people/families that were affected and thank God that the boys and all Three Angels kids and staff are unharmed.

One detail that slipped my mind-is that with storms/hurricanes and the like (riots etc) Haitian government basically shuts down. And so each storm that passes through adds to the delay and wait for children to get to their forever families. The staff changes will pose some delays, as there is no 'cross training' in Haiti. Each person has a job to do, and no one else can/will do it. So I pray for receptive, productive, Godly staff to be appointed to the vacancies as quickly as possible.

We continue to work on paperwork on our end. We've got home study stuff under way-references, fingerprints, classes, that dang auto biography, certification (by the court) application etc. We also mailed our I600a-which is an immigration (not the right word/title anymore) form. I've also written our letter to IBESR. I know there's a ton more to do, but I can't really think of it right now. I feel like I've gotten some stuff accomplished, and yet I feel like there's so much yet to do. Both statements/feelings are true.

We also received a VERY generous gift this week, and are thanking God for that provision.

Your prayers are appreciated!

  1. I'm praying these changes in government will bring about some positive changes for these kids.

Take your dossier one step at a time and before you know it you will be done!

  2. Sounds like you're doing GREAT with your dossier!

I'm praying everyday for godly, adoption-friendly, efficient people to fill the positions in IBESR and Parquet.

It's always fun to hear of God's amazing provision. He is SO faithful!

  3. Hi Stephanie & Cara,

Thanks. I seem to have a pattern-of being overwhelmed by all I have to do, at first, then all of a sudden (anywhere from 3 days to a week) motivation hits, focus hits, and I tackle some stuff on the list.

I will get this done, so the real waiting can begin.....

Thanks for your prayers, encouragement and support, it means the world to me! I know I'm going to need it even more as this process unfolds.

I'm so grateful for blogland and cyberspace-otherwise how on earth would we all find and support each other?!?

    God is great!!
