You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Waiting......

An interesting thought on time and waiting. Taken from Beth Moore's book "Get Out of That Pit" Chapter 7 is called Waiting on God For Deliverance.

"I've come to the elementary conclusion that, to God, together is the whole point of any process. Before man was created, God just said something and it happened. "Let there be light" and all. He could still do that. Sometimes still does. But you might notice that a lot of that instantaneous action ceased after man came along, and obviously on God-purpose. Suddenly God wasn't so sudden. Time became the vehicle for this wonderful thing called history. You could neither rush it nor slow it. All you could do was ride it. And, what a ride it was for all those who preceeded us.

What a ride it is for us now. God etched history not on lands and nations but on human lives. Not on superhumans. Not even on particularly impressive humans. God seems to summon the most of faithless of all to faith. He's a magnet to weakness, perhaps the ultimate proof that opposites really do attract. History is told through the encounters and experiences of men and women God would call to know Him. To trust Him, often under nearly impossible circumstances. People prone to wander, prone to bruising, prone to doubting, prone to losing.

Think about it. God could have accomplished in an instant many of the things that He decided instead to hammer out over the tedium of years. Sarai could have felt Isaac kick lustily within her before the dust of Ur was off of Abram's sandals. God takes His own sweet time because sweet time is God's to take. Still, if man weren't around, I personally think He'd go back to the instant action mode. Why wait if there's no one to wait with you? God created time for man. In fact, even the words "in the beginning" mark the tick of the first clock. The Trinity has no such bounds in the eternal state. A wait is time oriented and, therefore, primarily man oriented. Perhaps among a host of other reasons, I think God often ordains a wait because He purely enjoys the togetherness of it."

Is it possible that God makes me wait because He wants to spend time with me? Just to hang out with me? He wants to spend time together? Hmmm, something to seriously ponder and pray about. I know for sure that I am weak, and "prone to wander, prone to bruising, prone to doubting, prone to losing."

Perhaps in the midst of my desperation to have the boys home, I can choose to draw closer to God. I can choose to enjoy the ride........

A fresh idea or spin on this season of waiting. I needed this today.

  2. what a great post. Definitely something I needed to hear. I have to be honest and say that it's still a struggle. My mind understands and desires for the "togetherness" with my Savior but my heart just wants my baby home. I guess, in the end, that's the process. I need to learn to love God more than ANYTHING and trust Him more than EVERYTHING! Thanks for this!

  4. Thanks everyone, for your comments. I really needed to hear/read that today. It's an ongoing struggle-I too want my boys home NOW, but I'm trying to focus on the bigger picture. It's good to get a reminder like this from time to time. After all, this (adoption) is not really about me. It's God's plan, and so He'll work it out, in His timing. Meanwhile, I continue to struggle, grow, hope, despair, wait.

    Hugs to all.
