You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Heavy Day

Spring Means Green and HOPE has Arrived!Image by cobalt123 via Flickr

Today was what I call a "heavy day" at work (the hospital).

Some days are like that. It's just the way it is.

I had two separate people in the same day, at two different times say to me:

"I am XX years old. I'm done."

Both feeling hopeless and discouraged and with a whole list of illnesses and problems. Both arguing that I couldn't possibly understand, and that "I have a right to die."

Sometimes, people say that, and they mean it, in passing. They are tired. They are frustrated. They are in pain.

These two are the same, and experiencing all that, but it felt different. Utterly hopeless. Like they meant it.

Yikes.

Pray for this man, and this woman. Who aren't really all that old. Or maybe they are. I don't know. It's up to God to decide when it is time. But if we give up the fight, the will to live, and lose hope, that has an impact, doesn't it?

Pray for the Lord to move in their hearts and give them the will to live.

Pray for all their health care providers.

Pray for their families.

Pray that tomorrow is a better day-not so heavy.
