You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

A bit of encouragement from above-one of those 'random' things.....

I couldn't get this to upload directly here-it didn't work when I tried to embed it.
So you have to click the link to go watch the video. Hopefully this works.

This video contains footage from my first trip to Haiti in July 2008.

It was compiled recently by a man on staff at our church who did not go on the trip,
and who, as far as I know, does not know our boys.

This was played in all of the weekend services at church about two or three weeks ago in relation to upcoming plans for mission trips/activities.
I love the praise and worship and study/reading of God's word. Make no mistake-what you see that looks like celebration is praise & worship-the children, the nannies, the teenage boys from Port au Prince Fellowship that came to the O and led a church service for the children at the O. I can't really explain how the praise and worship in Haiti makes me feel. It is so different from the 'typical' American church.

The boys are all over this video, and I'm even it, with Jean Ba.
And the song is one of my current favorite God songs at the moment. Play it all the time, and it moves me.

Another confirmation. A gift. A bit of encouragement from above.

God is great.

For those of you that don't know/recognize the boys watch for these times:

1:49 green shirt is JB
3:16 JB
3:33 Steeve
3:38 Me & JB (do I look happy when our eyes meet, or what?)
4:14 Steeve
4:20 JB

  1. Okay, that was GREAT! It was wonderful to see all the kids and all those people working so hard on their behalf. The whole thing just had me praising God (and wanting to go back to Haiti!) And I let out a big squawk/sob when I saw your big happy smile for Jean Ba! Thanks so much for sharing this, Lena!

  3. Thanks, Cara. Think about how you reacted-and picture me in church, after all of the music worship time, and me sitting there watching that same video. (sigh) It was pretty emotional, to say the least. I don't know exactly when the footage was filmed-when during the trip...but I'd have to say that the clip of me in it, is sometime AFTER I began to realize what God was doing. All I can say is that sweet precious little boy must've smiled at me, and then I smiled back.

(sigh)I'm in love, and missing those boys something fierce right now.

  4. Thanks, Colleen. there is so much more that I could share about how I even came to be interested in going on that trip, decided to go, and raised exactly the right amount of money, down to the penny. and oh so much more. There is NO QUESTION that God put this together. It's exciting and scary and fun and I'm full of awe at this whole process!

    Thanks!
